Bone loss is a disease that causes bones to become more fragile and a higher possibility of fracture or breaking. It can because of lifestyle or even genes. The healthiness of a person’s bone is based on the density of bone tissue within the bones.
1. Ageing
A person’s bones are normally replaced every 10 years, but as a person ages, this process slows. The old bones should be waste from the body but sometimes the body reabsorbs the calcium or phosphate from the old bones for building the new bones.
2. Osteoporosis
As mentioned above, sometimes the body absorbs the materials from old bones to build new bones. During this process, it would cause the loss of bone mass. On the outside, the bones will still look normal however, the inside of the bones would lack phosphate and calcium. Leading to higher possibilities of fractures or breaks.
3. Diet
Calcium and Vitamin D are the 2 main nutrients required in the body for healthy bones. Calcium provides structure and strength for your bones. Vitamin D assists the body to absorb calcium and any other essential materials key for healthy bones and teeth. People who drink alcohol or smoke have chances of weaker bones.
